Why do people buy music magazines or not?
People buy music magazines for many reasons:
☞ Gossip on music artists
☞ Posters
☞ Interviews
☞ Music/gig reviews
☞ Upcoming music events
☞ Look at photos of favoured musicians
☞ See what is going on in the music industry
However, with the economic industry getting so expensive, people are turning to social media. They are using the internet, phones and TV to get information – instead of buying magazines. The two biggest replacements for magazines is Facebook and Twitter, with Facebook having one billion users and Twitter with 500 million, and growing! You can ‘like’ and 'follow' pages which allow you to join music communities and preview magazine issues before they reach the shops, and follow accounts which are updated regularly. Magazine editors tend to tweet and post articles, photos, bloopers from the magazine, videos, gigs and create online debates – allowing their followers to get involved. Below are some figures for how many people like and follow music magazine pages:
☞ Rolling Stone – 628,658 likes and 1,954,528 followers.
☞ NME – 212,865 likes and 375,773 followers.
☞ Q – 30,040 likes and 62957 followers.
However, some people do choose to buy the magazine itself because of its possible value in the future. It allows them to find other artists that are like the ones they listen to, and they can find out about competitions and gigs/concerts that are related to the genre of music that the magazine is based on. You can also carry magazines around with you whilst travelling, and not everyone has access to the internet 24/7. It solely depends on the person, because some like to physically turn pages whilst some people prefer the internet, or using a kindle/iPad.
On the other hand, this clearly portrays why people are choosing new media over traditional media. New media is easier, quicker and cheaper to access.

"Beauty and a Beat" review
The teen phenom strikes again! The frantic dance track sees the heartthrob sing about dancing with a beautiful girl in a considerably more upbeat number from the Boyfriend singer. "Beauty and a Beat" is a song by Canadian recording artist Justin Bieber, from his third studio album 'Believe', featuring Nicki Minaj, who lended her voice to the track. It is instrumentally complete with a heavy drum machine and rushing synthesizers. The track, like other club bangers he features on his album, follows the same musical vein as mentor Usher and Ne-yo. Following party songs like Prince's "1999" and Jay Sean's "2012", which also featured Miss Minaj, Justin is getting everyone to 'party like it's 3012'. The beat is present, as is the beauty in this smash hit; Bieber's incredible falsetto on "all... I need, is a beauty and a beat"will definately be stuck in your head for the next few days... at least! Having the beauty and a beat, however, is nothing big for Bieber, with many of his singles being undoubtetly phenomenal, (his hit song Baby has a whooping 700 MILLION VIEWS on YouTube... and growing!). To have a successful single, you need to have personality, which this catchy song definately has, which makes it very beauty-ful indeed! Beauty and a Beat is definately one for the dancefloor, with its rapid drum beats and David Guetta-style electro break down after every chorus. Bieber's new, mature sound is definately suited to everyone, and we respect how he's on his quest to grow up and be taken more seriously as an artist and come out of his comfort zone, as well as making music he and his fans love, too. He's certainly made himself, and us proud! This latest track comes after Justin's official single releases - Boyfriend, Turn To You, Die In Your Arms and more recently, As Long As You Love Me. Believe Tour Review
The teen phenom delivers a show to remember for his legions of 'Beliebers' as it's truly a show for everyone. It’s hard not to smile at his show, as Justin Bieber kicks off the show with a bizarre stage entrance; a silhouetted figure in wings leaping behind the screens – the top of the multi-tiered set opened to reveal Justin dressed in black and harnessed to a massive pair of metallic wings, to the tune of “All Around the World”. It’s certainly an extravaganza - with lasers, fireworks, confetti-spewing cannons, flags marching through the arena like an Olympic opening ceremony – and that was just during the opening number! The venue then spirals into a virtual spaceship from another planet, seeing as Bieber began his set on a futuristic-looking stage ripped right from a sci-fi space film, with the sheer magnitude of the shrieking audience's reaction which was stunning and physically overwhelming. As the concert progressed, Justin established incredible routines of songs from his hit album 'Believe', with lightly-choreographed dance moves (inspired by the one and only Michael Jackson) and crowd-baiting displays of affection, setting the audience ablaze. Justin also sung songs from his first album, 'My World', including 'Somebody To Love', 'Eenie Meenie' and 'One Time'. Towards the later portion of the set, Justin stood aboard a mechanical crane that rotated throughout the circumference of the arena. He performed two acoustic tracks, "Be Alright" and "Fall," of which found Bieber accompanying himself on acoustic guitar and singing with great emotion and tonal precision. Without the pomp and glitz, his talent is unquestionable and the acoustic tracks allowed you to see the best of his talent for yourself. Justin was joined by two guest performers during the set - opener Carly Rae Jepsen (who he signed to his label - SchoolBoy Records - earlier this year) for the acoustic-lead "Beautiful" and Jaden Smith for a rapped verse during the fiery "Never Say Never", which is again, from his previous album. A two-song encore comprised major hits "Boyfriend" and "Baby," after which Bieber thanked his fans and stated: "Go home tonight and do what you love, and be the best at it." The Believe Tour had been compared to a Disney Ride and with incredible people working behind the scenes, like David Blaine, it was hard for this tour to fail as it was an unforgettable experience.
